| Description | The Eugene OMTA will host a state-wide composition workshop which
will provide students with the opportunity to work with composers to
learn tips and tricks to begin, develop and produce a finished
composition.
Students will be divided into two groups - Elementary and Intermediate. These groups will be determined by composition and theory experience, not by age. Please be specific as to experience, i.e. knowledge of key signatures, primary chords, scales, chord tonality and any prior experience with composition. The groups will rotate through a series of classes involving the stages of composition. This will be a hands-on workshop, which teachers are encouraged to observe in order to continue the process and motivate students to enter the Composition Celebration. It is the intent of this workshop to provide access to advisors and troubleshooters for students and teachers during the interim between the workshop and the Composition Celebration. Materials will also be handed out to students as reference materials. Teachers may purchase additional packets for $5. Information regarding registration will be available in the Con Brio or you may contact the chair. |
