Silent Film Celebration

Event

An opportunity for young pianists to play in a fun, non-competitive event with other pianists. It’s a cultural learning experience and a chance to make music without being the center of attention.

Silent film background music will be provided by 22 pianists (other instruments will be considered). Each will play for one scene (30 - 90 seconds) from “The Blacksmith”, a 1920s silent film starring Buster Keaton. Two keyboards will be used so performers can alternate easily. Coordination will be done by the co-chairs and a rehearsal will be held about a week before the performance.

Between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. The Festival of Popular Music will start at 2:00.
