Type of event

The Baroque Festival is an adjudicated event; all students will perform in a recital and receive comments from the adjudicators. Teachers may register students in either the competitive or non-competitive divisions. Honors Recital and Awards Adjudicators will select 25% of participants from each division to advance to the final event, the State Baroque "Honors Recital." Honorable mention awards will also be chosen.

Repertoire and Performance Requirements

Students perform original music written by a Baroque composer, including J. S. Bach, Scarlatti, Handel, and others. Students participating in the Baroque Festival are required to perform original music written by a Baroque composer.

Instruments and accompaniments allowed

While most participants are piano players, all instruments are welcome, and accompaniment is allowed for non-piano pieces. Accompaniment is allowed with pieces for non-piano pieces. Students must provide their accompanist. Teachers are not allowed to accompany their own students in the competitive division.
