Ensemble performances by students. Entrants can elect competitive or non-competitive status. Two pianos will be available.
Description
You can enter ensembles as competitive, or non-competitive. In both cases, the performance will be adjudicated, and students receive a certificate, along with the comments from the adjudicator. In addition, for the competitive District Festival, outstanding ensembles will be chosen by the adjudicator, and they are invited to perform at the State Honors Recital, which takes place on Saturday December 6, at the same location.
Students will have to register again for the State event. (Note that students invited to the State Honors Recital, and whose family needs financial help, can ask Eugene OMTA for a scholarship to pay the registration fee for that event. The application form is available on the Eugene OMTA website, under “Teachers/Resources/Forms.”)
In recent years, ensembles included piano duets, two-piano duos, cello or violin and piano duos, and string quartets. The repertoire performed was also equally varied and spanned many style periods. Perhaps consider a piano trio or quartet? Or consider a piece for three or four pianists? Two pianos will be available. Teachers and parents cannot participate in the ensemble or turn pages for a student or their own child. For a fuller list of rules and repertoire consult the updated documents on the OMTA State website.
If you have any questions, please contact Genevieve Mason (gdupassieux@gmail.com) after October 11.
